United ISD Welcomes New Teachers to District

Recently, United Independent School District (UISD), kicked off three days of new teacher orientation at the Alexander High School 9th grade campus. Celia Taboada, Director of Staff Development, served as emcee to welcome approximately 100 new teachers to the district.  Her introduction was followed by remarks from David H. Gonzalez, Superintendent of Schools, UISD Board President Javier Montemayor Jr., Deputy Superintendent for Administration & Operations Gloria S. Rendon, and Associate Superintendent for Human Resources David Garcia.

Orientation is the initial phase of a multi-faceted program focused on supporting the success and professional growth of the district’s new teachers. New teachers also get an opportunity to become acquainted with the many people, resources and services that are available to support them at UISD. Throughout the school year, the district will continue to host workshops and provide mentoring to help new teachers meet their professional goals in providing students with the best classroom instruction and assistance. “I am proud of the many fine teachers that have been recruited this year. All of us are looking forward to the first day of school on August 16”, said Taboada.
