Three outstanding bus drivers from the UISD Transportation Department were recognized as part of the Property and Casualty Alliance of Texas (PCAT) Bus Driver of the Year Program.
This is the first year United ISD participates in the incentive program as a way to support and thank our exemplary employees for their hard work and dedication. Representatives from the Risk Management Department and administration visited each of the three transportation compounds to award the three lucky winners. The drivers were presented with a certificate and gift basket sponsored by the Carlisle Insurance Agency and the UISD Wellness Department.
For over 20 years, UISD has been a member district and board member of PCAT which is comprised of over 160 Texas school districts. In October of 2023, Transportation Executive Director, Jose Aranda was asked to nominate his top 5 drivers from each of the three compounds.
In order to qualify the drivers must have a good driving record, excellent work ethic and a good relationship with their coworkers and students.
“All our employees deserve something, but when you think of bus drivers it’s like a mobile classroom. They’re just as important in the protection of our students as any other employee, so we want to make sure we give them recognition whenever we have the opportunity,” said Associate Superintendent for Administration Operations Mike Garza.
Congratulations to the winners!
